The recent completion of 2x Mercedes-Benz O500 LE E6 buses with Custom Denning Endeavour route service bodies for Premier Illawarra signifies the conclusion of the Mercedes-Benz and Custom body combination-built buses.
Earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz announced that they will be pausing their operations and the sales of new bus and coach products in the Australian market.
The final Custom Denning body constructed on a Mercedes-Benz O500 LE E6 chassis was recently completed and delivered to the Huntingwood dealership for pre-delivery inspection (PDi) preparations. This purchase was part of a group order that saw a mix of chassis and Custom Denning body combinations.
The partnership between Custom Denning (formerly known as Custom Bus) and Mercedes-Benz has spanned almost 50 years, with some of the early Mercedes/Custom combined products delivered to customers such as Westbus, Busways, STA (State Transit Authority), Quodling’s Coaches Canberra, and Singleton coaches.
Although the Mercedes-Benz chassis era has come to a close, Custom Denning continues its partnership with Premier Motors Illawarra, with further production of the Endeavour model buses utilising various chassis types currently being manufactured or close to commencing.
